Religion Based Scholarships

One of the most longstanding scholarship programs internationally are those that are based in religion. Religion is an enormous force in the lives of many individuals and seeking out a scholarship based upon their core religion may be suitable for them. In fact, some of the oldest universities in the United States are ones started by religious groups or theological orders.

In some cases the religion based scholarships must be used either in a religious-based school or towards a degree in divinity or theology. It is more common, however, that the scholarship funds may be used in any way deemed appropriate by the student. This will be dependent upon the organization that is issuing the scholarship.

Nearly all of the religion based scholarships will require that the applicant sufficiently prove to the scholarship committee or board their declared religion. In several cases, this may mean a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s local religious leader. In any case, religion based scholarships are an excellent option for anyone planning to acquire a college degree.
